John Burnes is an LA-based writer and producer.
Affable. Able. Available.
John writes producible screenplays, plays and treatments. His brand is everyday misfits who discover they matter. His comedy play THE BREEZES THAT BLOW -- a satire about the chaos that ensued when Hooters attempted to open in the people's republic of Santa Monica -- was produced at the Blank Theatre in Hollywood. Other works include SAVING SANTA (screenplay and deck; ‘Miracle on 34th Street' meets ‘Call My Agent'); WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR (play); REMOTES (screenplay and play); PLAYING RICHARD BURTON (screenplay); DO YOU TAKE THESE BRIDES (screenplay); and XAVIER HALL (treatment). John runs a successful Los Angeles based communications, content and branding company, and is a producer-director and of course, writer. He creates bespoke documentary and media production for social causes. |
He's written and produced more than 70 purpose-driven videos and worked with nonprofit teams that have raised nearly $2 billion to date.
While the majority of his clients are corporations and nonprofits, he’s also worked professionally with funny people such as John Cleese. John also plays trombone in a marching band (join us! -- an invitation you didn't know you needed), and he sang at the funerals of Chris Farley and Gregory Hines. (Ah the stories.) He is a graduate of the top-five Loyola Marymount University film school, earning an MFA in screenwriting, and of Saint Louis University, earning degrees in communications, writing and music. John seeks representation for his original works that feature strong, clear IP and paths to profitability. |
